Grief & Bereavement

Are you dealing with the loss of a loved one? Christina specializes in bereavement counseling having worked at Hospice of the Comforter as a bereavement counselor and has gained experience from attending workshops and conferences that focus on death and dying. Christina is attuned to how grief can make a person feel depressed while they are in mourning because of the death of their loved one. Common symptoms of grief are lack of appetite, emotional eating, odd behavior, insomnia, and isolation. If you experience any of these symptoms it may be time to allow yourself to talk about your pain and learn how to cope in a healthy manner. Christina can help.

Cultural Sensitivity

Christina is dedicated to supporting all individuals of any race, religion, sexual orientation, culture etc. as she is trained to view each person from a multi-cultural lens. Whether you are questioning your gender identity, considering coming out as gay, lesbian, or bi-sexual, involved in a multi-racial relationship, or on a faith journey, Christina will encourage you to explore your thoughts and feelings without judgement.

Christina participated in the making of a video demonstration of affirmation and support for the victims and families who lost their lives and were impacted by the Pulse shootings.

CHRISTINA SUAREZ, MA, LMHC

Christina Suarez, MA, LMHC (License MH15750) received her Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration and Management from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Additionally, she received her Masters of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling from Rollins College. Christina is a Certified EMDR Therapist. She is bilingual and is able to conduct counseling sessions in English and Spanish. Christina currently works with a team of experienced and talented counselors at the Glenwood Center for Well-Being.

Christina was inspired to become a mental health counselor when life threw her challenges that were too difficult to handle with the coping skills she had at the time. It was clear that in order to find peace she needed to find meaning in her own struggles. Her own therapeutic journey brought love and harmony back into her life. From feeling more connected in personal relationships to feeling authentic in difficult situations; the tools she learned changed the way she saw and interacted with the world around her. Today, as a mental health counselor, she finds great meaning and the most fulfillment from the opportunities she gets to support others as she once was.

Good Faith Estimate (GFE)

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers and health care facilities are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally and in writing of their ability, upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services, to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges. You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
